Our boy Pink..... his childhood is coming to an end...
he already understands that life as we know it is anything but easy..or happy
...but difficult and full of pain....
he begins to build a mental wall around himself...
shielding himself from the realities of the world,
from having lost his father,
an overbearing mother
and the horrors of being a school boy,
where the Head Master is a cruel vicious man
The Thin Ice
[David Gilmour] Momma loves her baby, and daddy loves you too. And the sea may look warm to you babe And the sky may look blue Ooooh babe Ooooh baby blue Oooooh babe. [Roger Waters] If you should go skating On the thin ice of modern life Dragging behind you the silent reproach Of a million tear-stained eyes Don't be surprised when a crack in the ice Appears under your feet. You slip out of your depth and out of your mind With your fear flowing out behind you As you claw the thin ice.
Another brick in the Wall Pt 1
(Roger Waters) Daddy's flown across the ocean Leaving just a memory. A snapshot in the family album. Daddy, what else did you leave for me? Daddy, what d'ya leave behind for me? All in all it was just a brick in the wall. All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.
When the Tigers break free part 2
[Roger Waters] And kind old King George sent Mother a note When he heard that Father was gone. It was, I recall, in the form of a scroll, With gold leaf and all. And I found it one day In a drawer of old photographs, hidden away. And my eyes still grow damp to remember His Majesty signed with his own rubber stamp. It was dark all around, there was frost in the ground When the Tigers broke free. And no one survived From the Royal Fusiliers Company C. They were all left behind, Most of them dead, the rest of them dying. And that's how the High Command Took my daddy from me.
The Happiest Days
[Roger Waters] When we grew up and went to school There were certain teachers who would Hurt the children in any way they could By pouring their derision upon anything we did And exposing every weakness However carefully hidden by the kids But in the town, it was well known When they got home at night, their fat and Psychopathic wives would thrash them Within inches of their lives.
Another Brick in the Wall Part 2
[Roger Waters & David Gilmour] We don't need no education. We don't need no thought control. No dark sarcasm in the classroom. Teacher leave them kids alone Hey! Teacher! Leave them kids alone! All in all it's just another brick in the wall. All in all you're just another brick in the wall. [Islington Green School children] We don't need no education. We don't need no thought control. No dark sarcasm in the classroom. Teacher leave them kids alone Hey! Teacher! Leave those kids alone! All in all you're just another brick in the wall. All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
Essentially all these negative happenings in Pink's life become building blocks--
bricks to form his wall against society, the world,life....
In the last song here,,,and the last song of Pink's youth..his early formation.
, Pink is saying goodbye to his childhood
he begins his journey out into the world...
it is a beautiful song that perfectly portrays the ominous tone that is
Pink rising.....
Goodbye Blue Sky
Goodbye Blue Sky
(Young Pink)
Look, mommy. There's an airplane up in the sky.
[David Gilmour]
Di' di' di' did you see the frightened ones?
Di' di' di' did you hear the falling bombs?
Di' di' di' did you ever wonder why we
Had to run for shelter when the
Promise of a brave, new world
Unfurled beneath the clear blue sky?
Di' di' di' did you see the frightened ones?
Di' di' di' did you hear the falling bombs?
The flames are all long gone, but the pain lingers on.
Goodbye, blue sky
Goodbye, blue sky.
Goodbye. Goodbye
Twas noontide of summer,
And midtime of night,
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, through the light
Of the brighter, cold moon.
'Mid planets her slaves,
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves.
I gazed awhile
On her cold smile;
Too cold—too cold for me—
There passed, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar
And dearer thy beam shall be;
For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night,
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.
Stars By Robert Frost
HOW countlessly they congregate
O'er our tumultuous snow,
Which flows in shapes as tall as trees
When wintry winds do blow!--
As if with keenness for our fate,
Our faltering few steps on
To white rest, and a place of rest
Invisible at dawn,--
And yet with neither love nor hate,
Those stars like some snow-white
Minerva's snow-white marble eyes
Without the gift of sight.
Some more great wine label art...above a label from Van Duzer Vineyards and Winery in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Oregon has become quite well known for fabulous Pinot Noirs...the wet climate, cool pacific breeze is essential to growing these complex grapes.
A little More Wine..Savory Brown
Alphonse Mucha has long been one of my favorite artists...
Two things I love to experience...wine and art. California is well known for it's Napa Valley Wine Country...but there are MANY other beautiful and amazing vineyards and wineries around the state. One area I absolutely love is the Santa Cruz Mountain wineries....AMAZING!! Not to say other areas are not fabulous as well...take Livermore Valley...also some brilliant wines and some beautiful tasting rooms. Both of the afore mentioned areas for the most part do not charge you to taste and if they do it's minimal and refunded if you make a purchase...unlike Napa whose tasting fees can be pretty outrageous...anyways....in addition to the lovely wines, atmosphere and scenery, many of the wineries feature quite alot of cool art.
One of my very favorite wineries is called Bonny Dune Vineyard. They have a great variety of wines from both imported grapes and local.
The experience you have when you taste at Bonny Dune is like no other...all seriousness is washed away here,,and it's a very fun experience.
Bonny Dune wine labels are all made by various artists.
Highly recommend Bonny Dune as well as many other wineries in the area check out www.scmwa.com to learn more of the many wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
In answer to my challenge here is my poem/story composed from titles of Beatles and Led Zeppelin songs...I used 57 song titles all together, I used 3 songs twice. I added punctuation where needed.
Going to California, babe....I'm gonna leave you. That's the way girl....The ocean, over the hills and far away. I'm gonna crawl, ramble on.
I'm so tired, dazed and confused. It's all too much...Oh my soul!
In spite of all the danger,I'm gonna crawl.
Nobody's fault but mine.
Yesterday...this boy love you too...
Martha, my dear,you shook me!
Like dreamers do.
Good times, bad times, lonesome tears in my eyes
Like a child,ask me why..baby it's you
Darlene, she said, she said, she said,
"She came in the bathroom window"
she said, she said, she said,
"some other guy,nobody I know..."
Too much monkey business woman.
Think for your self, what you're doing.
I'll be on my way
I'll follow the sun
Tea for one,custard pie
Hey,hey what can I do?
Ten years gone, all of my love...
What is and what should never be
Martha, my dear...
I should have known better
Do you want to know a secret?
I want to tell you something...
Every one has something to hide except me and my monkey
